2. Lawyer
Choosing a reliable lawyer
It is strongly recommended that you choose an independent lawyer who specialises in Spanish land law (urbanismo). We recommend that you also check that your future lawyer is registered with the local bar association (Colegio de Abogados).
A good place to start is a list of English speaking lawyers certified by the Spanish Law Assosiation (Colegio de Abogados)
The Spanish property conveyancing system is different to the UK system so you should ensure that those involved in the transaction are qualified and experienced in Spain.

3. Currency Exchange
Now you probably have a bank account in your home country with your budget in your local currency and will need to transfer this money to a Spanish bank account in euro. Calling your home bank asking them to transfer the money would certainly be one way to go about it but could lead to inflated rates and potentially carry extra fees.

Contact a reputable independent Spanish mortgage broker to establish exactly what your budget is and the best way to maximise it. Just make sure you go to a specialist Mortgage Broker who is fully licensed, regulated by the Bank of Spain and holds all of the necessary financial qualifications.
You’ll no doubt have a budget in mind, and the mortgage broker is there to help you work out exactly how much you can afford, and make your budget work hard for you.
And once you have that Mortgage pre-approval you’re well on your way to purchasing your dream property!
